Update!!!!!

http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-061209cubs-story,1,2062914.story?coll=cs-cubs-headlines

The cubs have signed Marquis to a 3 year estimating 20 million sources have learned.. Thats much better than 3years 28million.. Before everyone bashes this signing lets wait to see the lay out of it.. could be 5mill a year with incetives or has an option attached to it.. Lets wait for the details, but you have to admit it Eaton can get 3 year 24 mill for arm troubles.. 3year 20 mill is about the right deal for this market...

Ill say it again.. i like Marquis!

"As has been rumored for a while now, the Cubs have signed 28 year-old righthander Jason Marquis. The Tribune says three years, $20MM, while the Post-Dispatch says three years, $28MM."

this may be JH's worst deal ever

I dont thinks it is.. I like Marquis( one of the few i take it).. I say dont judge the guy quite yet.. He hasent thrown a pitch in a cubbie uniform yet.. I think LaRussa and him had a problem, Obviously that effected his pitching last year.. Lets just see how he does before we burn him at the stake

Come on guys... I understand he gave up 35 hr and had a 6.02 era but he pitched 200 innings and had 14 wins.. Please just give him a chance..

Look the Cards gave Weaver a chance and didnt he get released and he was a stud in the playoffs

cubsfan82,

I'm with you on the Marquis signing. It seems like we are the only ones though. His problems are more mechanical than physical, and Rothschild has been working with him already and said that he is getting it straightened out.

Hopefully we can have the last laugh when he goes 17-9 for a 5th starter.

I do think we are the only ones who feel this way.. I think he will have a productive year and put up adverage to above adverage numbers.. hopefully 14-8 with a 3.80 era to 4.15 era.. I would be extremly happy with that..
