Cubs could be intrested in Finley, Erstad, or Church??

Thanks to mlb4u.com

Darin Erstad, CF--Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
Posted: 04:58 PM - Jan 3, 07
The Rockies are set to sign either him or John Mabry. Rockies, White Sox, Orioles and D-Rays interested. His first choice remains to return to the Angels. The Cubs could also use him, but they are pursuing Ryan Church and Steve Finley instead. ...This rumor was last updated on 04:58 PM - Jan 3, 07. The source of this rumor was

I cant say im suprised because of Jim saying he wants a stop gap because of Pie but Finley and Erstad are not better than Jones, Church you may say is better on D, but with the bat Jones beats them all. I say let Jones, Theriot, and Pie fight over it in spring training.

Here a link to there stats-

Finley- http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=2150

Newhan not a Cub

Im sure this will break all your hearts but it appears David Newhan will pick the Mets over the cubs according to http://www.mlb-rumors.blogspot.com/. I cant tell you how glad I am to not have him"compete" for a spot on the 25 man roster. It also provides a better chance that Floyd becomes a cubbie. Which of course I am all for.

GO CUBS!

Cubs come to terms with Cotts

Thanks to Rotoworld.com-

Cubs agreed to terms with LHP Neal Cotts on a one-year, $825,000 contract. Cotts was arbitration eligible for the first time. The Cubs are still planning to stretch out the left-hander in spring training, but he's no higher than seventh on the starting pitching depth chart, making it likely that he'll return to the pen.

Not big news but its cubbie news.
