Harden Out of WBC, Small Tear in Shoulder.

Rich Harden will not pitch for Team Canada in the upcoming World Baseball Classic. The Tribune reported Harden "might not be ready to start for the Cubs during March because of his on-and-off right shoulder."

His number one priority is the Chicago Cubs. He still says he feels good and should be ready by spring training even though the Tribune says otherwise.

I do not think this is that bad. A lot of pitchers pitch with small tears and discomfort but it does make a deal for Peavy more likely.

harden will definatley be an issue all year long. He didnt throw many curve balls last year for fear he will get hurt. For sure we should go after peavy because with him and big Z maning the 1 and 2 spots in the rotation we should be set when we make it to the playoffs. (HOPEFULLY)

If the Cubs get Peavy, we will have Marshall (if he is not traded) in the pen to come in to the rotation if Harden misses starts. I like the depth the team seems to have right now.

I got real nervous when I saw Harden's name on the CAN roster. Glad he respects the Cubs enough to make the best call in terms of team.

I would actually be interested in the Cubs signing Sheets to a one year deal. Gives him a chance to prove himself and cash in in 2010 and allows the Cubs to make a low risk gamble. And with so many versatile position players, we could get away with 12 pitchers on the roster and have Harden and Sheets rotate starts to preserve their health.
