- The Cubs traded Andres Blanco to the Rangers for a PTBNL. My question is why? A switch hitter, with speed, can play all over the infield, and has a plus glove should be valued not traded. If the Cubs were looking to deal an infielder for a PTBNL they have one named Jeff Baker. Blanco is more valuable to the Cubs than Baker is, plain and simple.
- The Cubs got to keep Mike Parisi because he was sent back to St. Louis but since he was outrighted before he had the choice to be a Cardinal or be a free agent. He chose free agency and was sent to AAA Iowa.
- With Tyler Colvin looking everyday like the real thing. It makes me wonder, if he continues to hit does he replace Fukudome in RF? I say yes!

It makes sense to trade Blanco because of the fact that he's out of options and wasn't going to make the team. No way was he going to clear waivers, so the cubs got what they could for him. In my opinion, a pretty decent move by Hendry to get the most out of someone who wouldn't have been on the cubs by the end of ST.
The reasons to keep Blanco over Baker are the same reasons the Rangers probably asked for Blanco instead of Baker.
I think a Fonty/Baker platoon at 2B will work just fine. This trade was at a point where Blanco's value is at the highest its been (based on his decent back up numbers shown in 2009). The Cubs dealt from a position of strength, as I think this is just another step in the direction of seeing Castro called up at some point this season and moving Theriot to 2B. Then you factor in the depth the Cubs have in the minors at middle IF. I guess it'll depend on what we get back, but not too worried about this one. And I don't mean that as a jab at Blanco.
Colvin has definitely earned more than a bench role, but can the Cubs "afford" to play him over Fuku and his double digit million dollar salary?
Blanco's more valuable than Jeff Baker? That's laughably stupid.
