Cubs Talk...

- Reuters article thinks the sale of the Cubs could drag past May. As long as it does not drag past June I am not worried. I love how the team is now but if a guy like Doc Halladay or Peavy are available at the deadline you pick them up!

- The Cubs are still waiting to hear from Mike Lamb. According to a Cub officials the Cubs have offered Mike Lamb a minor league contract. The Cubs have also been in contact with free agents Wily Mo Pena and Javier Valentin as they would serve as depth in AAA Iowa in case Soto, Hill, or an outfielder goes on the DL.

- MLBTR has a list of mid season trade candidates. Here they are-

Jake Peavy
Roy Halladay
Erik Bedard (looking great so far)
Rick Ankiel
Adam LaRoche
Miguel Tejada
Adrian Beltre
Matt Holliday
Jermaine Dye
Brian Giles
Aubrey Huff
Kevin Millwood
Magglio Ordonez
Vernon Wells
Dan Uggla

The players in red are on my short list of players that I think the Cubs will target. The green players are targeted players if an injury occurs with a player being out for a long period of time.

- Jake Peavy rumors will not die until he is a Cub. Here is some links and highlights from the past week on Peavy going to the Cubs-

****Rosenthal said, "Jake Peavy would be the best possible alternative for the Cubs."
****Sun-Times said, "And until Jake Peavy shows up for this team, the Harden spot, Marshall spot and empty spots behind them will be concerns."
****Buster Olney also commented on Peavy"it feels like it's only a matter of time before he winds up in a Cubs' uniform."

- News again on the injury front both good and bad. Bradley is out for 3 to 5 days with that strained right groin, they target him coming back Friday against the Cards. In good news both Aram and Soto are expected to be in the starting lineup Wednesday.

That is it for now Cub fans!!!!

When are they going to figure out that Derek Lee needs to get out of the 3 hole? In a healthy line-up they are hitting their best hitter (ARAM) 5th. Makes no sense at all. Was refreshing to hear the espn announcers call them out for that. Soriano can also move down, as he can drive in a lot more runs and fill in derek lee's clogging of the lineup. Theriot is a great candidate for the leadoff role, even when he cools down he will still have good quality at-bats. My lineup:

Theriot-SS
Fukudome-CF
Ramirez-3B
Bradley-RF
Soriano-LF
Lee-1B
Fontenot-2B
Soto-C
.....You can flip Fukudome and Fontenot as to who is hottest and bat them 2nd, but Lee's constant failures in the clutch and Soriano's potential to drive in many more runs has the Cubs missing out on scoring oppourtunities.

soriano is not going to move out of the leadoff spot... Lou has already put that rumor to bed... i agree that Lee should not be hitting 3 but who else woudl you put there? Lou likes having a lineup of right left right left so lee is the best option right now. plus he could start hitting the ball to the opposite field like he did a couple years ago and be a productive hitter again.

Hit Ramirez there just like i posted. Lee is not going to hit like he did 3 years ago because he obviously is not the same hitter he was back then. I played 7 years in the minor leagues and pretty much the same wrist problem sideline me for a year. After that I hit for around the same average maybe slightly lower but definitly without as much power. To stay inside the ball and keep your top hand above the ball to drive it the other way you need both wrists to be strong and healthy, i'm afraid that's just not the case with DLEE anymore.(Which is the reason for so many roll-over double plays) Still a great defender, and a serviceable bat, just not in the 3 hole.

I feel that until Bradley starts swinging the bat well... take advantage of his patience and get him on base with his walks before Ramirez in the 4 Hole.

Soriano
Fukudome
Bradley
Ramirez
Lee
Fontenot
Soto
Theriot

I know that doesn't follow the R,L,R,L that Lou wants, but our clean up hitter shouldnt be walking that much. I am not complaining at all... just bump him up to where you want the walks to be... before the 4 spot.

Agreed. Anything is better than Lee hitting 3 or 4.

Cubs are in first place besides having Lee, Soto, Bradley, Fontenot, Miles and Gathright not hitting. Also 3 starting pitchers with ERA's at 5.00 or above.
3 releif pitchers with ERA's at 5.00 or above. ( the pitching is starting to scare me) We need Peavy and Halladay. I know i'm just dreaming.
