Here is my 25 man roster as of right now. This could be altered with a Peavy trade (lets hope) or signing a guy like Nomar or Rich Aurilia.
Infielders-
Lee
Fonty
Theriot
Miles
Aram
Hoffpauir
Catchers-
Soto
Bako
Outfielders-
Soriano
Fukudome
Gathright
Johnson
Bradley
Starters-
Zambrano
Lilly
Dempster
Harden
Marshall
Relievers-
Marmol
Gregg
Heilman
Cotts
Gaudin
Vizcaino
Guzman
This leaves out pretty much all the Spring Training Invitees and Jeff Samardzija. Unfortunately Jeff will get caught in the numbers game and be in AAA Iowa to start the season, maybe as a starter. Guzman, Gaudin, and Cotts are all out of options so unless one is traded before Opening Day then this is your 25 man roster.

I feel like you HAVE to trade Guzman here. Why... out of options so he always has to stay there in the bigs. Also... Samardzija has great stuff and I think he has great talent already and can only get better. Also, you dont want to start bringing him up and sending him down because sooner or later... he may start to run out of options and that would be a terrible thing. Trade Guzman, get what you can, and keep Samardzija up (unless Guzman is part of a deal to Peavy in April/March).
what do you think will happen to the japanese pitcher?
Keep Samardzija and get rid of Vizcaino.
Does anyone else worry about Z's mental state if Peavey were added and Z might not still be the "#1 ACE of the staff?"
Good point Anonymous!
I have never thought of that, but hopefully Z is a big boy and realizes that the past 2 years he has not been an ace and the Cubs just need to get to the playoffs and go deeper once they get there!
Zambrano has said that he will do whats best for the team. Concerning last year Dempster starting over Z in game 1, he said he knew he wasnt the number 1 at the time and understand what had to happen. He said that he knew his role and where he had to pitch. I think he might be angry, but it wont affect him.
