Hendry was on the score today(the North show) and he stated that he has already had talks with Z and his agent. He said he will hit negotiations hard in 2 weeks and his goal is to have him signed to a long term deal before opening day.
This is good news to cubs fans, Zambrano said he wants to remain a cub for his entire career and it sounds like the will get a chance to do that.. He could make anywhere from 16 to 20 mil a season for the next 6 to 9 years and probably could get more than that on the free agent market, hopefully theres no snags and he signs before opening day because the last thing we want to see is Big Z in another uniform!

I don't care what it costs, if Hendry is unable to sign Zambrano, than all of his work during the off-season will be for nothing. He is the anchor of the pitching staff. We aren't going to win without him.
Thank God. Hopefully he gets it done ASAP.
I couldnt agree with you more. theres no way Hendry lets Zambrano walk.. He is our ace and will remain our ace for years to come as i see it
I think it will get done during spring training.. a couple of weeks before opening day, but we will see
After this past off-season, In Hendry I Trust. My guess is $133 million over 7 years for big Z. That would make him 33 at the end of the contract I believe also.
Not a bad guess, making 19 million a year is not bad for Big Z, but i exxpect him to give the cubs a hometown discount and it will be 7 years with a mutal option for the eighth, a no trade clause for 4 or the possiable 8 years.. and will make a base pay of 115 million with 15 million of incentives over the 7/8 years.. but thats just a guess
